Renowned Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz has made a dramatic return to take charge of Ghana’s Black Stars once again.

The Ghana Football Association announced the reappointment of the 73-year-old strategist, who recently led the team during their 2023 World Cup campaign.

Queiroz initially took the helm in April but stepped down after Ghana’s narrow 1-0 elimination against Colombia in the tournament’s decisive knockout stage.

Despite his earlier departure announcement on social platforms, football authorities persuaded the veteran coach to continue shaping Ghana’s football future.

While contract specifics remain undisclosed, the GFA confirmed Queiroz will spearhead the national team’s rebuilding process ahead of crucial international fixtures.

Association officials highlighted his unmatched pedigree, boasting World Cup experience with Iran, Portugal, and Egypt, along with stints in South Africa, Colombia, and Qatar.

Before his illustrious international career, Queiroz served as right-hand man to legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson during their Premier League dominance.

His immediate challenge involves preparing Ghana for impending Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against fierce continental rivals.

Drawn in a competitive qualification group, the Black Stars face their first tests later this month, though exact match schedules remain pending.

The GFA promises a comprehensive technical briefing in coming weeks to outline Queiroz’s blueprint for restoring Ghana’s continental supremacy.
