Renowned Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji has clapped back at a controversial statement urging Igbo men to avoid marrying Igbo women and instead find partners from other African nations.
The online debate sparked when a photo surfaced of a Rwandan woman reportedly engaged to an Anambra man.
A social media user reshared the image with the caption: “This makes perfect sense!
“Igbo brothers, why marry local women who might falsely claim you assaulted your own child? Seek wives beyond Nigeria’s borders.
“Rwandan women are ideal—they’re beautiful, humble, and easily accessible online.”
Genevieve countered sharply: “Translation: Rather than reflecting on your actions, target vulnerable women to continue your misbehavior. Understood.”
Another X user challenged her stance: “His post condemned false accusers, yet you defend them instead of advocating for change?”
The actress fired back: “Just as you can’t generalize all men as abusive, don’t blanket-blame Igbo women. Remember: ‘Not all women’.”
