Former Nigerian international and prolific striker Michael Eneramo has tragically passed away during a local football match in Kaduna.
Reports from SCORENigeria indicate the 40-year-old collapsed while participating in a friendly game at Angwan Yelwa pitch in Kaduna’s Television district.
Eyewitnesses revealed Eneramo had just been substituted into the match when he suddenly fell to the ground unresponsive. Immediate medical efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.
“He went down without any collision or contact,” a witness stated. “Despite all attempts at resuscitation, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.”
Eneramo enjoyed a distinguished career, representing clubs like Tunisian giants Esperance, Turkish powerhouse Besiktas, and Nigeria’s Lobi Stars before retiring from professional football.
Following his playing career, the former Super Eagles star had been actively involved in youth development, running his own football academy in Kaduna.
Tributes poured in across social media, with the Super Eagles’ official account posting: “Another legend gone too soon. Rest in eternal peace, Michael.”
