Ezra Olubi

Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi’s former romantic partner, Max Obae, has praised the fintech company after Olubi was terminated amid accusations of inappropriate behavior.

Commenting on the dismissal, Max called the move “a strong step forward for accountability in African tech, setting a precedent for how companies should handle misconduct.”

The two, along with Max’s girlfriend, were previously in a well-documented polyamorous relationship, which they shared openly on social media in earlier years.

In a follow-up statement, Max disclosed that he had fully settled a financial obligation to Olubi, posting proof of the transaction with the caption: “Cleared the remaining $5k balance today, officially closing out the $55k debt. Done and dusted.”

The developments come after widespread backlash over past controversial statements made by Olubi, leading to Paystack launching an internal review before taking disciplinary action.

Olubi, however, has contested the termination, asserting that he was “dismissed prematurely without due process.”
