The football world mourns the tragic loss of Matt Beard, ex-Liverpool Women’s manager, who passed away at just 47.
His wife, Debbie, shared the heartbreaking news in a heartfelt social media tribute late Saturday, stating, “Our beloved Matthew Beard left us tonight at 7:28 pm.
“A devoted husband, father, and brother, he touched countless lives with his warmth and kindness. Those who knew him will forever cherish his generosity,” she added.
Liverpool FC expressed profound grief, releasing an official statement: “We are devastated by the untimely passing of our former women’s team coach, Matt Beard.
“The entire club stands with his loved ones during this unimaginable loss.”
Beard made history by securing back-to-back Women’s Super League championships (2013, 2014) in his initial tenure with Liverpool.
In a remarkable second stint, he led the team’s resurgence, clinching promotion from the Championship to the WSL in 2022.
