Audu Maikori

Audu Maikori, the pioneer of Nigeria’s Chocolate City Entertainment Group, has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of weaponizing state power against him following a since-deleted Twitter post containing inaccurate information.

The music executive made these revelations during an appearance on Arise Television’s flagship program ‘Prime Time’ on Monday.

Maikori described his ordeal as political persecution rather than legitimate prosecution, claiming the former governor allegedly orchestrated disturbing retaliatory measures after the controversial tweet.

“What I experienced under El-Rufai wasn’t justice – it was vindictiveness. After admitting my tweet was based on wrong information and deleting it, I was unlawfully arrested,” Maikori disclosed.

He argued that while public figures should be held accountable, the governor overstepped constitutional boundaries in his response.

“Security matters should be left to law enforcement. The very driver whose false account misled me in the first place later recanted,” he explained.

The entertainment mogul further alleged that following his initial release, fresh attempts were made to fabricate connections between his deleted post and unrelated violent incidents.

“The police cleared me, yet days later El-Rufai was publicly trying to associate my corrected error with unrelated fatal clashes,” Maikori revealed.

These allegations resurface as El-Rufai himself faces detention by the EFCC over separate corruption allegations.
