Renowned Nollywood director Kunle Afolayan has raised alarms over the skyrocketing diesel prices impacting his production ventures.
The award-winning filmmaker revealed that fuel expenses have surged beyond manageable levels, severely straining his operations.
Afolayan disclosed that maintaining power at his KAP Film Village and Resort now costs an astonishing ₦11 million monthly, despite having solar installations.
In a candid Instagram video, the cinematic visionary expressed frustration over Nigeria’s worsening energy crisis.
“The current diesel price of ₦1,500 per liter is crippling,” Afolayan lamented. “We’ve resorted to purchasing fuel on credit, sometimes taking two months to settle debts before securing new supplies.”
The situation has forced his production company into precarious financial arrangements:
- Monthly diesel expenditure exceeding ₦11 million
- Partial reliance on solar unable to offset generator costs
- Extended credit cycles with fuel suppliers
His plea for intervention comes amid Nigeria’s deepening fuel crisis, with Dangote Refinery recently hiking petrol prices to ₦1,175 per liter – the third increase in seven days.
