FIFA Announces 2027 Women's World Cup Schedule In Brazil

FIFA has unveiled the official match schedule for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, outlining the dates, venues, and locations for all 64 matches spread across eight vibrant host cities.

The announcement was made live during the preliminary draw for the 2027 Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

Brazil’s opening match will take place at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on June 24, 2027, followed by group-stage fixtures at São Paulo’s Arena Itaquera on June 29 and Brasília’s Estádio Nacional on July 4.

Every host city is slated to stage a minimum of seven matches, including at least one knockout game.

Round of 16 encounters will be hosted in Brasília, Porto Alegre, Recife, and Salvador, while Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro will welcome the quarter-finals.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the significance of the tournament in advancing women’s football and uniting fans across Brazil.

“The 2027 Women’s World Cup will mark a pivotal moment for the sport, showcasing elite talent while engaging communities nationwide,” Infantino remarked.

The knockout stages will culminate in Rio de Janeiro, with São Paulo hosting one semi-final and the third-place playoff, while the Maracanã will stage the second semi-final and the grand finale.

Additionally, FIFA Fan Festivals are planned across all host cities, offering live entertainment and interactive experiences.

Dame Sarai Bareman, FIFA’s Chief Women’s Football Officer, stressed that the schedule prioritizes competitive fairness and fan engagement.

“The scheduling ensures balanced travel, recovery periods, and an unforgettable experience for every participating team,” Bareman said.

She highlighted FIFA’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring fans nationwide can immerse themselves in the tournament’s excitement.

The Maracanã will join a select list of stadiums to have hosted both men’s and women’s World Cup finals, following Sweden’s Råsunda Stadium and the USA’s Rose Bowl.

 

Aline Pellegrino, Brazil’s former women’s national team captain and 2027 World Cup executive, expressed immense national pride in hosting the event.

“Bringing the Women’s World Cup to Brazil is a dream realized—a chance to honor our football legacy,” Pellegrino shared.

 

“Fans worldwide will experience Brazil’s passion for football, as our host cities showcase their unique cultures and inspire future players.”

Pellegrino emphasized the tournament’s potential to leave a lasting impact on women’s sports globally.

With the official schedule now released, fans can begin organizing their travel, while local authorities ramp up preparations for the landmark event.
