She boldly asserts that the music scene fails to safeguard women, highlighting the disproportionate challenges female artists face in gaining recognition.

Emerging Nigerian artist Qing Madi has voiced her frustrations about the hurdles women encounter in the country’s music industry.

She shared these candid thoughts during a recent interview.

In her view, the industry lacks adequate protection for women, with female musicians often struggling to receive the same level of acceptance as their male peers.

During an appearance on the Wahala Podcast, Qing Madi expressed, “The music industry isn’t exactly welcoming to women—it doesn’t prioritize their safety or celebrate their contributions equally.

“Female artists are forced to work twice as hard just to get half the recognition. The scrutiny we face is relentless, while men enjoy far more freedom without the same level of judgment. Society constantly tries to confine women into narrow expectations.

“It’s exhausting dealing with this at just 19—what more do people expect from me? There’s never a moment of respite for women in this field. Still, I take immense pride in being a Nigerian female artist and salute every woman navigating this tough industry. The struggle is real, but we persevere.”
