Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti is set to receive a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award at the 67th Grammy Awards, marking an unprecedented milestone for African music.

The legendary Nigerian musician will be celebrated among global superstars like Whitney Houston, Cher, Paul Simon, and Chaka Khan at the prestigious event, recognizing their unparalleled contributions to music.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, praised the honorees as “pioneers who have reshaped musical landscapes and inspired countless artists across decades.”

Fela, hailed as the “creator of Afrobeat,” is being honored for revolutionizing the genre and leaving an indelible mark on global music culture. His groundbreaking 1976 album, Zombie, was previously inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2025.
