Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian music star Ilerioluwa Aloba (commonly known as Mohbad), has formally urged the Lagos State Government to take legal action against his son’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, and others implicated in the Coroner’s investigation into the artist’s tragic passing.
This appeal was detailed in a petition submitted to Lagos State Attorney-General Lawal Pedro, SAN, and signed by Aloba’s attorney, Wahab Shittu, SAN.
The document specifically names Feyisayo Ogedengbe, an unlicensed nurse who allegedly injected Mohbad before his demise in September 2023, as a prime suspect.
Additionally, Aloba demanded accountability for other individuals present in his son’s residence who either facilitated the nurse’s involvement or neglected to secure urgent medical intervention.
The petition cites the Coroner’s July 2025 ruling by Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi, which declared the nurse’s unauthorized medical procedures as both illegal and professionally reckless.
The report also criticized Omowunmi Aloba for choosing home care over hospital treatment for her ailing husband.
Shittu highlighted growing concerns over the state’s inaction since the verdict, stressing that no legal measures have been initiated against the accused despite the Coroner’s damning conclusions.
“Our client, a grieving father pursuing justice, remains alarmed that no prosecutorial action has materialized since July 11, 2025, despite the Coroner’s explicit findings,” the letter stated.
The counsel pressed the Attorney-General to commence legal proceedings within a two-week window, emphasizing the case’s national significance and public outcry.
Should the state decline to prosecute, Shittu requested official authorization to pursue the case independently under Lagos State’s criminal justice provisions.
