Renowned traditional artist John Zuya, popularly known as John Mai Molo, has tragically passed away after allegedly consuming poisoned food.
The shocking incident unfolded in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where the beloved singer had recently returned from a performance in Lagos on October 16.
Eyewitnesses revealed that Zuya suddenly fell ill and collapsed after eating the contaminated meal, exhibiting severe symptoms before his untimely demise.
Close friend and fellow musician Emma Wakili shared the heartbreaking news on social media: “We lost John Zuya this morning at 7:00 a.m. His remains have been taken to the mortuary as authorities conduct further investigations.”
Medical personnel at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) pronounced him dead upon arrival. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
As news of his passing spread, an outpouring of grief flooded social platforms, with fans and cultural advocates calling for justice while celebrating Zuya’s enduring legacy in traditional music.
