Following the official confirmation of Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), social commentator VeryDarkMan has raised concerns about controversial appointments within the police force, particularly those involving high-ranking female officers.
He expressed these concerns in a video shared on his Instagram account on Thursday.
Reflecting on recent leadership, VeryDarkMan stated: “The outgoing Inspector General of Police was the most ineffective in history. His leadership eroded public trust in the Nigerian Police Force due to unchecked misconduct and systemic failures.”
He specifically criticized a senior female officer known as Buki, holding the rank of PSO Two, accusing her of abusing her position for personal gain.
“Imagine a mid-ranking officer arresting civilians in Wuse Market over an alleged theft of gold worth ₦2 billion. Where could she have acquired such wealth? The level of corruption linked to her actions is staggering.”
Emphasizing the consequences, he added, “Numerous cases were compromised under her influence, and deserving officers suffered delayed promotions due to her biased interventions. It’s deeply troubling.”
Addressing the newly appointed IGP directly, VeryDarkMan cautioned him against repeating past mistakes.
“Sir, my advice is simple—remain vigilant. Scrutinize those in key positions, especially those prone to unethical behavior. Immediately remove anyone undermining justice.”
He also commended IGP Disu’s track record during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Abuja.
“Having interacted with you as CP, I witnessed firsthand your commitment to justice. That’s why I believe you can restore credibility to the force.”
“Act wisely. The Nigerian Police Force cannot afford another era of mismanagement.”
