Renowned Nollywood star and passionate advocate, Kate Henshaw, has openly expressed her deep disappointment with Nigeria’s deteriorating state.
Henshaw lamented that after 26 years of democracy, the nation has little to boast about, emphasizing that the democratic journey remains meaningless for most Nigerians.
The award-winning actress shared her candid thoughts during a Democracy Day special aired on Channels Television.
She questioned the value of prolonged democratic governance when it fails to uplift citizens, leaving them struggling with hardship and neglect.
Henshaw pointed out the alarming disconnect between Nigeria’s democracy and its people, stressing that governance must translate to tangible improvements in their lives.
“The middle class has vanished, and self-deception is no longer an option,” she declared, highlighting the collapse of critical sectors.
“Our nation is crumbling, and Nigerians are barely surviving,” she added with palpable frustration.
Despite the grim outlook, Henshaw urged citizens to remain resilient, demanding accountability from leaders at every level.
“Silence is not an option,” she asserted. “We must fight for justice, fairness, and safety—for our lives and our future.”
She concluded with a glimmer of optimism: “I still believe Nigeria can rise—for us and for generations to come.”
