Ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has made a surprising political shift, abandoning the ruling APC earlier this year before making another move to join a new party.

Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has officially aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking his latest political transition.

Reports indicate that El-Rufai completed his membership registration at the ADC ward office in U/Sarki, Kaduna, where he also received his membership card.

Several of his staunch allies, including ex-government officials and council chairmen, were present during the registration process.

El-Rufai, one of the original members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had initially switched to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) before this latest development.

In his resignation letter from the SDP, dated November 26, 2025, the former governor emphasized his commitment to building a strong democratic alternative for Nigerians.

“This serves as formal notice of my resignation from the Social Democratic Party, effective November 26, 2025,”
he wrote.
