Eedris Abdulkareem

Renowned Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has opened up about his enduring marriage, describing it as a divine partnership crafted by God.

During a candid conversation on the Olofix podcast, the music icon revealed that his secret to lasting happiness lies in monogamy, firmly stating that marrying one wife ensures “a peaceful and fulfilling life.”

The legendary artist, now 51, shared that his wife was uniquely destined for him, emphasizing that straying from this sacred bond would be unthinkable. “God designed her specifically for me,” he declared, dismissing the idea of fathering children with another woman.

The creator of the hit track ‘Mr Lecturer’ reflected on their 20-year union, highlighting its miraculous nature—especially after his wife’s life-saving kidney donation. He recounted divine confirmation of their bond, saying, “On September 18, 2003, our paths crossed. By December 11, 2004, we were united in marriage. God’s plan unfolded perfectly—two decades later, He reminded me of our covenant.”

Abdulkareem passionately defended monogamy despite cultural and religious allowances for polygamy, arguing that true equality in love is impossible. “Yes, African tradition and Islamic teachings permit multiple wives—if you can love them equally. But let’s be honest: that’s unrealistic. You can only genuinely love one woman.”

The music veteran concluded with practical wisdom for longevity: “If you desire a long, harmonious life, let one woman be the mother of all your children. That’s the sweetest path.”
