Authorities in Rivers State have detained multiple employees of the Real Madrid Academy following a blaze that damaged part of the institution’s premises.
Among those apprehended were maintenance workers, janitors, and security staff affiliated with the academy.
Insiders revealed that a high-ranking police commissioner in the state directed the arrests in connection with the fire outbreak.
Reports indicate that the suspects were taken in early Tuesday and held overnight at Elekahia Police Station.
Officials at the station confirmed the detentions are linked to an active inquiry into the origin of the fire, which erupted at the academy on Monday.
Sources disclosed that the case has been escalated to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough examination.
At press time, the Rivers State Police Command had not released an official comment regarding the arrests or the fire incident.
The investigation remains underway.
