Anthony Joshua’s evening meal with promoter Eddie Hearn took an abrupt turn when UKAD representatives conducted an impromptu drug screening at their Dubai restaurant.
The Olympic gold medalist and his promoter were deep in conversation about Joshua’s upcoming fight plans when anti-doping officers unexpectedly arrived at their table.
Hearn humorously documented the encounter online, posting footage with the tongue-in-cheek remark: “Unbelievable dedication—twelve months since his last fight, and UKAD tracks him down at dinner.”
The video captures Hearn’s astonished reaction: “Incredible scenes unfolding—UKAD makes a dinner-time appearance.”
Joshua responds with characteristic charm, grinning at the camera while flexing his biceps and joking: “Guess my workout posts gave away our location.”
As the official doping control partner for British boxing, UKAD maintains strict testing protocols, requiring athletes to provide samples regardless of location or time. Fighters must also disclose international travel plans in advance.
The former unified heavyweight champion remains active in the testing program despite not competing since his September loss to Daniel Dubois, as he prepares for his ring return.
