Joseph Aloba, the father of deceased singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad), has maintained that his son’s body will remain unburied until a conclusive DNA test confirms the paternity of his grandson, Liam Aloba.
Following Tuesday’s court session at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Aloba emphasized that resolving the DNA issue is critical, not only for establishing paternity but also in uncovering the truth behind Mohbad’s untimely passing.
Chief Magistrate Salamah Matepo adjourned the case to August 11, 2026, allowing further deliberation on the motion submitted by the Aloba family’s legal representatives.
Mohbad—formerly exhumed for autopsy after his d£ath on September 12, 2023—has yet to receive a final burial nearly three years later, as disputes over Liam’s paternity test persist.
Oladayo Ogungbe, the Aloba family’s counsel, revealed that the family seeks a court-supervised DNA test from an accredited facility, ensuring impartiality.
He claimed that laboratories reportedly selected by both Omowunmi Aloba (Mohbad’s widow) and a Lagos State welfare officer had denied conducting any test.
Ogungbe further argued that Omowunmi’s separate legal action for a DNA test was redundant and an abuse of court proceedings.
The family insists on a reliable, tissue-based forensic examination in a recognized lab, rejecting a prior proposal involving a cancer research center lacking proper DNA testing capabilities.
Joseph Aloba, speaking after the court adjournment, stated, “This DNA test is non-negotiable. It’s not just about paternity—it’s key to uncovering the truth about Mohbad’s suspicious d£ath.”
He added, “We cannot rebury him until this is resolved. His body is still central to the investigation.”
