Debbie Shokoya

Nollywood star Debbie Shokoya has extended a heartfelt apology to her industry peer, Kemity, after missing her event for personal reasons.

Taking to Instagram, Debbie revealed that unforeseen family responsibilities, particularly those concerning her mother, prevented her from attending despite her initial commitment.

She expressed deep regret, mentioning that this wasn’t the first instance where circumstances forced her to cancel, which only intensified her remorse.

Debbie admitted waking up distressed over her absence, reflecting on why it impacted her so profoundly. She had been determined to attend this year, vowing not to repeat past misses—yet another unavoidable conflict arose.

Overwhelmed by guilt, she chose to publicly apologize, acknowledging Kemity’s importance in her life and career.

Debbie’s post read: “I had every intention of being there yesterday, but urgent family matters tied me down. Since then, I’ve been restless—waking up unsettled, replaying everything in my mind.

“This wasn’t just about missing an event; it was about breaking a promise to someone I deeply respect. That’s why this cuts so deep.

“@kemity, I’m truly sorry for letting you down—again. Each time you’ve invited me, life threw curveballs. This year, I swore things would be different. Yet here we are. Please know this hurts me as much as it disappoints you.

“I have no doubt Peele Night will continue to flourish, and I pray destiny allows me to be part of it soon. You inspire me—your talent, grit, and grace are unmatched. Forgive me, sis. No vex, my love.”

She concluded with admiration: “Your artistry, ambition, and unwavering spirit? Legendary. May success chase you endlessly. ❤️”
