D'Banj

Afrobeats legend D’banj has appealed to the federal government to mediate in the escalating feud between P-Square brothers—Peter and Paul Okoye—and their elder sibling and ex-manager, Jude Okoye.

The once-iconic group’s fallout took a legal turn when Peter filed a lawsuit against Jude and his company, Northside Entertainment, accusing them of fraudulent dealings.

Paul, Peter’s twin, further fueled the controversy by publicly siding with Jude, alleging that Peter’s claims were an attempt to damage Jude’s reputation.

The $1 million fraud case, still pending in court, has sparked widespread debate among Nigerians.

In a recent chat with Adesope Live, D’banj urged the brothers to reconcile and called for government intervention to resolve the dispute.

He stated, “The conflict between Peter and Jude is heartbreaking. When disputes arise, you only see the start—never the outcome, regardless of who’s right or wrong.

“Given the legacy they’ve built, I believe intervention is necessary. I recently spoke with Peter, and while he shared his concerns, I reminded him that reconciliation is still possible. It all comes down to communication.

“Even if it’s about money, this is the perfect time to settle. They own their music catalogue, which holds immense value. Global investors have pursued my catalogue for years, but I’ve held on because I know its worth—P-Square’s is no different.

“They don’t need to reunite as a group, but they can resolve their differences. If finances are the issue, let’s find a fair agreement…

“I urge any mentor or respected figure close to them—or even the federal government—to step in. This situation goes beyond colleagues. A neutral authority could help mediate.

“I recall when ex-President Obasanjo intervened after a bank collapse left Jay Jay Okocha stranded without his earnings. He ensured justice was served.

“A similar approach could work here. Whether it’s financial disputes or contractual disagreements, institutions like the Bank of Industry could help structure a resolution.”
