Afrobeats sensation Davido has refuted claims that his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and his delegation faced an att@ck during a royal visit.

While confirming an altercation occurred outside the palace, the musician clarified it wasn’t connected to the governor’s visit. In a social media post, he emphasized the governor’s widespread popularity among citizens.

The controversy emerged following allegations that the governor’s security team exchanged gunfire with unidentified assailants during Adeleke’s visit to the Ataoja of Osogbo’s palace. This occurred shortly after he received his election certification from INEC.

Davido had accompanied his uncle during the day’s events.

However, state police painted a contrasting picture of the incident.

Authorities revealed their initial investigation pointed to suspected gang members attempting to approach Davido at the royal residence.

An individual named “Small Rugged” allegedly sought access to the music icon but was intercepted by Davido’s personal security.

This prompted nearby gang associates to seal off the palace gates, effectively trapping the governor’s convoy inside.

The standoff quickly escalated into an exchange of gunfire, sending panic through the area.

Tragically, 60-year-old Tajudeen Yusuf sustained fatal gunsh0t wounds during the chaos. He was discovered in a different location after the assailants fled and later succumbed to his injuries despite medical intervention.

Law enforcement has launched a full investigation and requested public assistance to identify the perpetrators.

In related developments, Governor Adeleke unveiled a 500 million naira victims’ support fund addressing pre-election violence that occurred before August 15.

The Adeleke family extended support by pledging university scholarships for children of deceased victims, irrespective of political alignment.

A verification committee chaired by the state assembly speaker will oversee beneficiary selection.

The governor emphasized this assistance stems from humanitarian rather than political motives.
