Internationally acclaimed Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely recognized as Davido, has opened up about how the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, transformed his outlook on life.

It was in October 2022 when tragedy struck as Davido and his wife, Chioma, mourned the passing of their three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, after a drowning incident at their Banana Island home in Lagos.

During an intimate conversation with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, Davido shared how this profound loss reshaped his priorities, both personally and professionally.

The award-winning artist expressed pride in the resilience he and Chioma demonstrated in the face of adversity and how they managed to rebuild their lives.

Davido reflected on the unexpected impact of their strength, sharing heartfelt stories of fans approaching him to thank him for motivating them through their own struggles.

“Losing my son forced me to pause and reevaluate everything. It completely altered my path and gave me clarity on how I wanted to move forward. That moment changed me forever.

“Strangers stop me at airports just to say how our journey gave them hope during their darkest days. I told Chioma recently—I’m proud of how we rose from the pain. Now, we’ve been blessed with twins.

“They’re full of energy, lighting up our home. Turning our grief into strength and embracing life again—it’s truly remarkable,” Davido revealed.
