Afrobeats sensation Davido has officially announced his sixth studio album, Oriadé, set to drop on 31 July 2026—coinciding with his 15th anniversary in the music industry.
The Grammy-nominated artist shared the news in an exclusive Billboard interview before amplifying it across social media with a regal-themed teaser. The clip, showcasing the album title, release date, and pre-order details, carried the bold proclamation: “The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne.”
Styled in opulent Yoruba-inspired attire, the 33-year-old star appears in the teaser seated beside an ornate throne, reinforcing the project’s themes of destiny and self-actualization.
The album’s title—a fusion of the Yoruba words “ori” (destiny) and “adé” (crown)—symbolizes Davido’s artistic evolution. Speaking to Billboard, he reflected on trusting his musical calling despite early uncertainties: “Fifteen years ago, I followed a vision with no roadmap. Oriadé honors that leap of faith.”
He emphasized the privilege of elevating African music globally, adding, “True purpose rarely follows a straight path. My greatest wins came from believing in the unseen.”
Musically, Davido describes Oriadé as a return to his roots. “This is unfiltered Afrobeats—the sound that built my legacy,” he revealed. The 13-track project marks his most concise album yet, contrasting with previous 17-song releases like Timeless (2023) and 5ive (2025).
Lead single “I Know Who I Be” arrived on 28 June, kicking off the album rollout. Oriadé follows the critically acclaimed 5ive, which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s World Albums chart and spawned hits like “With You” featuring Omah Lay.
2026 has already been monumental for Davido: his Coachella debut included a surprise cameo by Adekunle Gold, while his FIFA World Cup anthem collaboration with Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado dominated global charts.
