Afrobeats sensation Davido was caught on camera in a jovial exchange with Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, teasingly claiming victory over him.

The amusing interaction unfolded on Thursday during a courtesy visit by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to Wike’s office in Abuja.

In the viral clip, Davido, dressed in traditional brown attire, repeatedly quipped, “I won! I defeated your team!” while Wike, seated in a white shirt, smiled and protested with “No, no.”

As the back-and-forth continued, bystanders erupted in laughter, egging Davido on until he ultimately bowed respectfully before embracing Wike—a gesture met with cheers from the room.

Online commentators have linked this exchange to Osun State’s recent August 15 governorship polls, where Davido’s uncle, Governor Adeleke, secured reelection under the Accord Party banner with 511,067 votes—outpacing his closest rival representing the incumbent party.

Social media reactions poured in, with some applauding Davido’s blend of humor and respect, while others questioned his cordial demeanor toward a political figure he’d vocally opposed during campaign season. The artist had actively championed his uncle’s bid, even expressing concerns about electoral fairness to international observers.

In post-election commentary, Wike credited Adeleke’s victory to the President’s commitment to electoral transparency, dismissing claims of federal intervention as unfounded.
