Davido Helped Me Secure Sony Music Africa Deal After Leaving DMW – Mayorkun Reveals

Afrobeats sensation Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, widely recognized by his stage name Mayorkun, recently revealed that his former mentor, superstar Davido, played a pivotal role in brokering his current contract with Sony Music Africa.

Mayorkun initially rose to fame after being signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2016, where he honed his craft before embarking on a solo journey in 2021.

While fans speculated that their separation might have caused tension, Mayorkun set the record straight by acknowledging Davido’s continued support in his career.

During an engaging chat with 3Music TV, the ‘Eleko’ crooner expressed gratitude for Davido’s influence in sealing his latest deal with the international label.



“Beyond running my own label now, I’m also proudly affiliated with Sony Africa—and credit goes to Davido for making it happen. He was instrumental in facilitating the deal,” Mayorkun shared.
