The Grammy-nominated artist revealed his desire to portray a taxi driver in a future film project, showcasing his versatility beyond music.
During a captivating panel discussion at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) titled “Rhythms of the Continent: The Afrobeat Movement and Its Impacts on African Film,” Davido spoke passionately about expanding his creative horizons into cinema.
“My brother promised me a role, and I immediately thought of playing a taxi driver—something completely unexpected,” Davido shared with enthusiasm. “He’ll have to make it happen because I’m serious about diving into movies.”
The chart-topping musician drew inspiration from global icons like 50 Cent, who seamlessly bridged music and film, expressing his ambition to create compelling narratives rooted in African culture.
Davido also cited projects like Netflix’s “Uncorked” as creative fuel for his vision to bring authentic African stories to screens worldwide.
