Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed he would prefer none of his kids follow in his footsteps by entering the music industry.
During a candid podcast appearance, the Grammy-nominated artist opened up about his reluctance to support his children pursuing music careers, drawing from his personal struggles in the entertainment world.
The OBO crooner shared that his daughter Hailey already demonstrates musical talent with her impressive vocals, but he expressed reservations about nurturing her interest.
“Hailey’s got that performer’s energy – she lights up any room just like I do,” Davido acknowledged. “Her voice is actually really good, but knowing the challenges of this industry makes me cautious.”
The 30 BG CEO reflected on his own difficult journey to stardom, questioning whether his children could endure similar hardships. “I’ve survived this path, but I can’t say I’d want them to walk it,” he admitted.
Despite his concerns, Davido emphasized he wouldn’t outright discourage his kids’ ambitions. “My family supported my dreams, so who am I to stop theirs? If they’re truly gifted, I won’t stand in their way,” he concluded.
“Seeing my own struggles makes me hesitant about my kids doing music. Still, I won’t kill their dreams if that’s their calling.” — Davido pic.twitter.com/xI2MQLpBWZ
