Beloved Yoruba film icon Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling advanced-stage cancer, as revealed in heartbreaking appeals by his daughters seeking urgent medical intervention for their ailing father.
In emotional social media posts on Monday, Lima and Kira Taiwo reached out for medical assistance, appealing to healthcare practitioners and the public to help save their father’s life.
Through tearful videos on Instagram, Lima disclosed that her father’s health has taken a drastic turn for the worse, with hospitals allegedly refusing further treatment. She urgently requested connections to cancer specialists or treatment centers, clarifying they only sought medical help—not financial aid.
Lima shared that the family had only recently discovered the gravity of his condition, as Hassan had maintained a strong outward appearance that masked his deteriorating health until weeks ago.
Kira echoed her sister’s distress, confirming the stage-four cancer diagnosis and revealing that doctors had ceased chemotherapy options. She begged hospitals, oncologists, and alternative medicine experts to step forward, expressing openness to any viable treatment possibilities.
While acknowledging a senator’s financial support during this crisis, Kira broke down recalling her father’s fear of death and visible suffering. The daughters’ appeals highlight the desperate situation facing one of Nollywood’s most revered veterans.
With a career spanning over 40 years and appearances in more than 300 films, Hassan remains an institution in Yoruba cinema. His sudden health crisis has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
At press time, medical specifics including the cancer type and hospital details have not been officially disclosed by the family or Hassan’s representatives.
