Nollywood star Daniel Etim Effiong sparked a heated online discussion after sharing his unconventional perspective on handling infidelity in marriage during a candid chat with media personality Ife Agoro.
The actor suggested that discovering a partner’s affair should prompt compassion rather than outrage, proposing that the betrayed spouse’s first question should be, “How can I help you?” instead of reacting with anger or heartbreak.
Daniel framed infidelity as a sign of personal turmoil, emphasizing that the focus should initially be on understanding the cheater’s struggles before addressing the relationship’s fractures.
When Agoro pushed back, questioning why the victim should bear the emotional labor, he stood firm, insisting that the unfaithful partner is in a fragile state requiring support. Only then, he argued, can couples begin rebuilding trust.
Citing selfless love as his guiding principle, Daniel dismissed prioritizing one’s own pain, a stance Agoro vehemently opposed, asserting that the betrayed deserve space to process their hurt without shouldering the cheater’s emotional burdens.
