Daniel Daga Cleared of Sexual Assault Charges as Norwegian Appeal Court Overturns Conviction
Nigerian footballer Daniel Daga, a former Flying Eagles standout, has been cleared of all charges by Norway’s Frostating Court of Appeal, marking a dramatic reversal of his earlier sexual assault conviction.

In a decisive ruling, the Frostating Court of Appeal overturned Daga’s six-month prison sentence, fully exonerating the young midfielder of sexual assault allegations dating back to April 2025.

Molde FK, the Norwegian club where Daga plays, confirmed the acquittal in an official statement, declaring that the 19-year-old will now be eligible to return to first-team action.

The initial conviction in March had led to Daga’s suspension from professional play, with the club enforcing strict disciplinary measures pending the outcome of his appeal.

“Daniel Daga has been unanimously cleared of all charges following a thorough review by the appellate court,” Molde FK stated, while acknowledging that the legal process had been challenging for all parties involved.

The club emphasized its commitment to handling the situation responsibly throughout the legal proceedings, balancing fairness for both the player and the alleged victim.

Daga, who transferred to Molde at the beginning of the 2025 season, has made a notable impact with three goals in 15 appearances, demonstrating his potential before the legal dispute sidelined him.
