Daddy Freeze

Media provocateur Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly called Daddy Freeze, has sparked debates by asserting that Nigeria’s strong religious devotion may be stunting its progress.

During a fiery discussion on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the outspoken broadcaster challenged the notion that faith translates to national prosperity.

Citing secular nations like Japan as benchmarks for advancement, he questioned why deeply religious Nigerians suffer from poor living standards while non-religious societies thrive.

“Where’s the divine payoff?”
he demanded.

“Religion promises blessings, yet look at our reality. Japan builds bullet trains while we pray for functioning hospitals. They enjoy longevity while our life expectancy ranks among the world’s worst at just 54 years.

“Our tithes surpass tax revenues, yet our infrastructure crumbles. If devotion brings favor, why does it feel like we’re being left behind?” the broadcaster lamented, referencing 2026 global health data.
