Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Portuguese skipper, expressed disbelief over Diogo Jota’s passing, calling it “senseless”.
Jota tragically lost his life in a car accident early Thursday morning.
The Liverpool star was traveling with his sibling, Andre, who also played football professionally.
Ronaldo shared on social media: “This is unimaginable. Just recently, we were teammates with the National Squad, just recently you celebrated your wedding.”
“My deepest sympathies go out to your loved ones, your spouse, and children. May they find the courage to endure this loss.
“Your spirit will forever remain with them. Rest in peace, Diogo and Andre. You’ll be dearly missed.”
Ronaldo and Jota recently lifted the UEFA Nations League trophy together just weeks ago.
