The trial of Adeniyi Kayode, the 46-year-old driver linked to the fatal crash that killed two associates of boxing star Anthony Joshua, has been postponed until February 25, 2026, by the Sagamu Magistrate Court.
Kayode, who was arraigned on January 2 before Magistrate Olufunilayo Somefun, faces four criminal counts under the Federal Highway Act, including dangerous driving resulting in death, reckless operation of a vehicle, driving without due care, and operating without a valid license.
“Prosecutor Richard Nigiwe requested an adjournment, citing incomplete witness attendance and the need to forward case documents to the state Attorney General’s office for legal review. Defense counsel Abiodun Olalekan initially opposed the delay but was overruled by the court.
Magistrate Somefun granted the prosecution’s request, scheduling the next hearing for late February as proceedings continue.
