The Texas-based championship took an unexpected turn when Thompson reportedly stormed off the podium during Booker’s celebration, visibly frustrated at the outcome. Multiple sources captured Thompson’s alleged outburst: “This is absolute nonsense.”
Reigning champion Rebecca Roberts shocked fans by revealing neither competitors nor officials had prior knowledge of Booker’s transgender status. The three-time titleholder stated, “We were all blindsided by this development.”
Archived social media content surfaced showing Booker’s 2017 YouTube confession: “At 21, I’m a trans woman surviving religious family opposition while processing past trauma.” This revelation has thrown the competition’s results into question.
Roberts launched a passionate defense of biological women’s athletics via Instagram, sharing an image captioned “Defend Female Sports.” Her accompanying statement read: “While I respect all gender identities, male physiology creates inherent advantages in strength disciplines that simply can’t be ignored.”
The controversy deepened when Thompson’s coaching staff independently declared her the “legitimate champion,” receiving endorsements from several elite competitors. “We’re witnessing the erosion of women’s strength sports,” one anonymous athlete told reporters.
Roberts’ viral post continued: “This isn’t discrimination – it’s preservation. Female categories exist for clear physiological reasons. When we compromise that foundation, we destroy competitive integrity.”
Organizers face mounting pressure to clarify eligibility criteria after Roberts claimed even event staff were unaware of Booker’s background. “Transparency matters,” Roberts emphasized. “Athletes and fans deserve honesty about who’s competing.”
