Clergy Claims VDM and Mr Jollof’s Clash Diverts Attention From National Issues

Rev. Fr. Chidi Angelo Unegbu, a Nigerian Catholic priest, has shared his perspective on the viral social media clash between VDM and Mr Jollof, calling it a distraction from pressing national issues.

In a thought-provoking Facebook post, Fr. Unegbu questioned the timing and intensity of viral online spectacles, implying they may be orchestrated to shift public attention away from deeper societal challenges. 

“These sensational online clashes—whether inflight brawls or celebrity feuds—appear conveniently timed to drown out discussions about Nigeria’s systemic crises,” he observed.

“We must recognize these digital spectacles for what they are and focus our collective energy on substantive issues,” the clergyman urged in his Monday social media commentary.
