Nigerian gospel artist Chidinma Ekile has shared a harrowing account of facing spiritual warfare, including a demonic encounter urging her to end her life.

During a recent sermon, the vocalist opened up about her transformative spiritual retreat, detailing the trials she endured while seeking divine clarity.

The ex-Project Fame champion recounted isolating herself for 40 days—marked by fervent prayer, emotional turmoil, and a deep wrestling with unseen forces. She emphasized that the experience reshaped her faith in profound ways.

Chidinma spoke of nights spent under open skies, pouring out her soul in worship and intercession. She described the journey as exhausting yet revelatory, bringing her closer to God than ever before.

In her own words: “I withdrew to the wilderness—not as Jesus did, but in my own weak way. Forty days of fasting stripped me physically but enriched me spiritually. Leaving America, I plunged straight into solitude, sleeping on bare ground until my body ached. Through tears, songs, and desperate prayers, God met me. His voice was tangible. I’d never felt such overwhelming love.

“Earthly distractions lost their grip on me. The Lord seeks the broken, not those who have it all together.

“Up there, darkness fought hard to stop my destiny. It felt like a spiritual operating room—God removing dead weights, implanting purpose. He shattered me completely.

“Satan dragged me to the mountain’s edge at midnight. Standing at that precipice, a demonic voice screamed at me to leap. The pressure was crushing. Hell knew what heaven planned and raced to sabotage it.

“As I teetered, an invisible barrier held me back. Wailing, I was rescued by my spiritual mother. Mercy preserved me. God flooded me with a peace money can’t buy—the void inside finally filled. I’d chased everything except true fulfillment. Now I know: Christ reigns supreme.
