Chelsea Hit With £10m Fine and Suspended Transfer Ban Over Agent Rule Breaches

Chelsea FC has been hit with a £10 million fine and a suspended two-transfer-window ban by an independent appeals board, as confirmed by the Football Association (FA).

The sanctions stem from the club’s acknowledgment of violating FA regulations regarding agent payments during the Roman Abramovich era.

Investigations revealed undisclosed financial transactions involving player agents across multiple transfers.

The FA brought forward 74 charges under Rule E1.2 after Chelsea’s new ownership voluntarily disclosed the irregularities following their acquisition of the club in May 2022.

Key transfers under scrutiny include high-profile signings like Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto’o, and Willian, which raised red flags during the ownership transition.

Initially, an independent commission proposed a suspended six-point deduction, but this was later replaced with the current suspended transfer embargo.
