Nigerian hip-hop sensation CDQ has revealed the intriguing backstory behind his missed opportunity to join Davido’s DMW label.

The rap artist shocked fans by confessing he intentionally walked away from the lucrative deal.

During a revealing chat on The Echo Room, CDQ explained how his chart-topping track “Indomie” caught Davido’s attention. The Afrobeats superstar extended an offer, but CDQ’s insistence on keeping producer Masterkraft involved changed the game.

“Davido slid into my DMs after his successful African tour,” CDQ recalled. “He was pumped about launching me as Africa’s top rapper and ready to invest serious cash.”

“But loyalty matters,” CDQ continued. “I brought Masterkraft to the table, proposing a collaborative approach instead of a traditional signing. When Davido wasn’t feeling that energy, we respectfully bounced.”
