Rising Nigerian artist Anthony Ebuka Victor, popularly known as Victony, has shared how a life-changing accident turned his parents into his biggest supporters.

The tragic incident, which occurred in April 2021, claimed one life and left several others injured, including the young musician.

In a heartfelt chat on the Behind The Prestige podcast, Victony revealed his parents originally wanted him to abandon music for engineering, insisting he focus on completing his education.

Everything changed after his accident. Seeing the overwhelming outpouring of love from fans across social media, with hashtags like #PrayForVictony trending, his parents finally understood the depth of his passion.

“My mom and dad weren’t exactly thrilled about me choosing music at first,” he admitted. “They never outright forbade it, but their dream was for me to graduate and build a stable career in engineering.”

“But after the accident, when they saw thousands of people rallying behind me, praying for my recovery—it hit them. That’s when they fully embraced my journey as an artist.”

Victony first blew up after featuring on Mayorkun’s smash hit ‘Holy Father,’ quickly becoming one of Nigeria’s most promising talents.

Currently signed to Mainland Block Party, founded by industry heavyweight Tobi Mohammed, the star has described his near-fatal ordeal as a “blessing in disguise.”

Opening up about his recovery, he disclosed undergoing four major surgeries since the accident, proving his resilience both on and off the stage.
