Super Eagles skipper William Troost-Ekong is reportedly weighing retirement from international football following Nigeria’s failure to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Credible sources indicate that the seasoned center-back may be excluded from the upcoming AFCON squad, as disclosed by respected journalist MikeThePundit.
In a post on X, Mike claimed Troost-Ekong hinted at his potential exit after Nigeria’s defeat to DR Congo, telling teammates, “I’ll be supporting you as a fan during AFCON.”
The 32-year-old, currently with Saudi Arabian club Al-Kholood, has seen reduced playing time with the Super Eagles, missing the starting lineup in their last three matches.
