Destiny Boy

The sister of the late Afrobeat star Destiny Boy has vigorously dismissed rumors that their mother, Saidat Adeshina, placed a curse on the musician before his passing, labeling the accusation as baseless and fabricated.

News of the singer’s untimely death spread rapidly across social media on Sunday, sparking heated debates and conflicting reports about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Previously, Saidat disclosed that her son’s health struggles began nearly two years ago during preparations for his child’s naming ceremony.

She revealed that the family exhausted all avenues—both conventional and traditional—to find a cure. Destiny Boy was later taken to an Ifa priest, Ifayomi Oba Edu, whom he considered a father figure.

Describing his condition as ‘Oku or,’ Saidat explained that episodes left him rigid, resembling an epileptic seizure, followed by erratic behavior resembling mental instability upon recovery.

She emphasized that the illness was kept private to protect the family’s privacy.

Controversy flared after an old video of Saidat surfaced during a TikTok live session hosted by a prominent influencer.

In the clip, Saidat was heard chastising her son during a heated exchange, declaring, “How dare you curse Rodiat? You know me well. Ten years of failing to build your own house, yet you call yourself a man. Unless I’m not your mother, my curses will strike!”

Public outrage followed, with demands for legal action against Saidat.

In response, Destiny Boy’s elder sister defended their mother in an emotional video, condemning the TikToker for spreading harmful misinformation.

“I am Destiny Boy’s sister. The falsehood spreading on TikTok and blogs must stop,” she stated firmly.

She dismissed the notion of maternal malice, questioning, “Did anyone witness our mother harming her own son? Think carefully—can a mother destroy her child?”

She clarified that the video merely depicted a familial dispute, saying, “They argued, and she spoke sternly to correct him. That’s all.”

Additionally, she refuted speculative claims about money rituals, challenging, “Who saw him engage in such acts? Stop peddling lies.”

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to the artist’s de@th, as the investigation remains ongoing.
