Burnley Football Club announced Thursday that Scott Parker has stepped down as head coach by mutual agreement following the team’s relegation from the Premier League.

A club statement confirmed that Parker and Burnley’s leadership had “collectively decided his tenure at Turf Moor would come to an end.”

Despite securing promotion in his debut season, Parker struggled to maintain momentum in the top flight, with the Clarets only managing four victories this campaign.

The final nail in the coffin came with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on April 22, just two days after Wolves were also condemned to the Championship.

Parker, who took over from Vincent Kompany in July 2024, signed a multi-year deal after successful spells with Fulham, Bournemouth, and Belgian side Club Brugge.

His first season in charge was historic, leading Burnley to an immediate Premier League return with a record-breaking 31-game unbeaten streak and an astonishing 30 clean sheets.

However, defensive vulnerabilities plagued the club this season—surrendering a league-high 68 goals—while early exits in both domestic cups compounded their struggles.

Burnley’s official statement read, “We extend our deepest gratitude to Scott for his unwavering commitment, leadership, and contributions to the club.”

“His professionalism and dedication have earned the respect of everyone at Burnley, and we wish him the very best.”

Parker, in his farewell remarks on the club’s website, called his time at Burnley “an incredible honor” and reflected on the highs of securing promotion.

“While this is the right moment for a fresh start, I will always cherish the memories we created,” he said. “Leading this team back to the Premier League was a career highlight, and I leave with great pride in what we achieved.”

The club confirmed assistant manager Mike Jackson will take temporary charge for Burnley’s remaining four fixtures, beginning with a trip to Leeds United on Friday.

Burnley also revealed that the search for a permanent successor has commenced ahead of the 2026–27 season.
