
Renowned Nigerian artist Burna Boy has committed to paying the burial costs for the four young victims of the tragic mass shooting in Stockton, California.
Moved by the heartbreaking news, the Grammy-winning musician decided to step in after discussing the incident on The Breakfast Club. He collaborated with industry figures Wack 100 and Jason Lee to extend support to grieving families.
“The Stockton tragedy deeply impacted me—especially learning of Amari Peterson, a bright young athlete with so much promise,” Burna Boy shared in his official statement. “I felt compelled to ease the burden on these families during this unimaginable time.”
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee praised the gesture, stating, “Burna Boy’s compassion transcends borders, proving how global communities unite in times of sorrow.”
The deadly incident unfolded during a children’s birthday celebration at a local banquet hall, leaving four dead and eleven injured. Among the confirmed victims are 8-year-old Maya Lupian and 21-year-old Susano Archuleta.
Authorities suspect the shooting was premeditated, with San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Heather Brent emphasizing the active nature of the case. Sheriff Patrick Withrow remarked, “We’re certain this wasn’t random, though specifics remain under investigation.”
A $25,000 reward stands for actionable tips leading to an arrest.
