Yemi Remi, the sibling of the late Nollywood icon Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, has shared new insights into the circumstances of the actor’s passing.
He recalled that the veteran performer appeared in perfect health shortly before his untimely demise.
Reports confirm that Chief Kanran attended a church service on Friday, August 15, where witnesses described him as lively and full of energy. Just a day before, he had spoken to his brother, planning to meet the following day.
However, fate had other plans. The actor suddenly collapsed in his bathroom and was declared de@d en route to medical care.
“There were no signs of illness. The Friday before his passing, he attended a church event where everyone noted his spirited dancing. He had even called me on Thursday to arrange a meeting for the next day,” Remi revealed.
“That same Friday, I received the devastating call that he was gone. I demanded answers, only to learn he had collapsed in his bathroom. By the time help arrived, it was too late,” he recounted in a recent YouTube interview.
The news of his passing was initially announced by filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi.
Chief Kanran was laid to rest on Friday, September 12, at his home in Beckley Estate, Abule Egba, Lagos.
