British rap icon Tinie Tempah recently celebrated his Igbo heritage, attributing his artistic brilliance to the rich cultural legacy of his ancestors.
In a candid YouTube interview, Tempah highlighted the extraordinary achievements of Igbo literary giants such as Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, both globally recognized for their award-winning works.
The chart-topping artist expressed pride in his roots, asserting that his innate creativity is deeply connected to his lineage.
“I proudly identify as Igbo, and I firmly believe there’s an inherent artistic genius within our people,” he said.
“From an early age, I learned about Igbo visionaries like Chinua Achebe, a Booker Prize laureate, and Chimamanda, whose brilliance even graced Beyoncé’s music. It’s clear to me that my talent is intertwined with my heritage—and that’s something truly special.”
