Egyptian Cairo Performance Controversy

Benue State authorities have initiated a probe after a viral video surfaced featuring musician Egyptian Cairo allegedly performing a song with explicit lyrics in front of school students.

The controversial performance, believed to include inappropriate content, has drawn widespread criticism from parents and education stakeholders, who are demanding answers from those responsible for the event.

Community leaders have condemned the act as unsuitable for a school setting, urging strict measures against the organizers.

In an official statement released on October 7, 2025, Dr. Terna Francis, Director General of the Benue Bureau for Education Quality Assurance (BEQA), confirmed that the incident occurred at Foundation College, Abeda Shitile, in Logo LGA.

Dr. Francis labeled the incident a “blatant breach of educational and ethical standards,” emphasizing that such misconduct contradicts the state’s commitment to fostering a wholesome learning environment.

“While we support creative arts as part of a well-rounded education, there is no room for obscenity or moral degradation in our schools. This incident must be thoroughly addressed,” the statement read.

He urged the public to remain patient as the investigation unfolds, promising decisive action based on the findings.

BEQA’s report will be submitted to the Commissioner for Education for further disciplinary measures, ensuring accountability.

Dr. Francis reiterated the bureau’s dedication to upholding Governor Hyacinth Alia’s vision of academic integrity and moral discipline in all educational institutions.
