Afrobeats artist Bella Shmurda, born Abiola Akinbiyi, has revealed a devastating financial setback—losing $4 million in a real estate scam in Lagos. The rising star allegedly purchased a property only to later discover it was unlawfully sold to him.
In an emotional Instagram Live broadcast on Tuesday, the “Cash App” singer broke down in tears while recounting the ordeal. He pleaded for public support as he grapples with the fallout.
The musician explained that he recently uncovered the fraudulent deal after extensive personal investment in the property. “My fellow Nigerians, I need your help. I’ve been scammed—$4 million of my life’s earnings gone,” he revealed.
According to the distraught artist, the seller became completely unreachable after receiving payment. “They disappeared with my money. I’ve been left with nothing. Please, someone needs to step in,” he begged viewers.
Shmurda emphasized the significance of his loss: “This was years of sacrifice and hard work. I can’t just lose $4 million like this.”
The entertainer confirmed he has engaged legal representation to pursue the matter. “My lawyer is currently investigating to recover my funds,” he shared during the session.
While visibly shaken during the livestream, Bella Shmurda maintained discretion, withholding specific details about either the property or the alleged scammer.
