Becoming Christian Was a Choice: I Learned the Bible on My Own

Nigerian music sensation Korede Bello has sparked conversations with his profound reflections on Christian faith, emphasizing the significance of Christ’s resurrection over His crucifixion.

In a heartfelt Instagram video, Bello challenged traditional perspectives, asserting that Jesus’ sacrifice was final and believers should shift their focus from the cross to His risen glory.

“Is Jesus still on the cross? Let me clarify—I’m a devoted Christian, and Christ’s death was once and for all. He doesn’t need to be crucified again. The cross matters, but Jesus never instructed us to fixate on His suffering. He said, ‘Remember Me,’ not ‘Remember My pain,’” he shared.

The singer revealed that his revelation came during a moment of deep prayer, where he envisioned Christ not on the cross but exalted beside God.

“While praying, I suddenly understood—Jesus isn’t hanging on the cross anymore. He’s seated in victory at the Father’s right hand. That’s where my identity lies,” Bello explained.

Quoting Apostle Paul, he reinforced the cornerstone of Christian belief: “If Christ hasn’t risen, our faith is meaningless.”

Bello also opened up about his spiritual journey, disclosing his transition from Islam to Christianity after independent Bible study.

“I didn’t grow up Christian—I was raised Muslim. My faith shift wasn’t about religion but a personal quest for truth through Scripture,” he said.

Expressing concern, he noted that many believers remain stuck at the crucifixion, missing the power of the resurrection.

“Our faith rests in the ascended Christ, not the suffering Savior. Clinging to the cross alone is like denying His victory. The old is gone; we’re called to live in His triumph,” he urged.

Highlighting love as Christianity’s defining trait, Bello referenced Jesus’ words: “They’ll recognize My disciples by their love.”

On communion, he clarified its purpose: “Breaking bread and sharing wine is how He asked us to remember Him—not through symbols of suffering.”

His closing message resonated with renewal: “Walk in wholeness, safety, and Christ’s nature. Think beyond limits.”
