The star questioned the timing of the public outcry, suggesting it came only after her newfound celebrity status.
The controversy ignited after her mother uploaded emotional videos claiming neglect and demanding a share of Imisi’s N150 million grand prize.
Footage shared on November 16 depicted the mother lamenting her living conditions and vowing not to beg for assistance.
Addressing the allegations via Instagram, Imisi revealed a history of estrangement, stating she and her mother had minimal contact prior to her reality show success.
She expressed bewilderment at the sudden public airing of grievances, noting their relationship had always been distant.
The BBNaija champion detailed her financial support over the years, including recent transfers before the public fallout.
She emphasized her prize money serves multiple family obligations, not just individual requests.
Imisi stated: “We barely spoke for years before my victory—why is this suddenly an issue post-fame?”
“I’ve done my part despite everything, even sending funds days before this went public. How much more can I give?
“This prize isn’t just for one person. Dozens of relatives now depend on me.
“Where was this concern during my most difficult moments?”
